TQT supports technological development in a variety of areas to help researchers and industry partners make meaningful contributions towards a quantum technology industry. Program features include:
Fabrication and prototyping
TQT covers the fabrication fees for approved projects developing proof-of-concepts to prototypes.
Patent search
TQT provides access to an IP attorney and supports the cost of acquiring guidance on patent design and patent development (approved projects only).
Training
TQT hosts lunch and learn sessions on topics ranging from start-up 101 to technology investment and mentorship. View Events or Get Connected to stay informed about upcoming lunch and learn sessions. TQT also invests in IP training and emerging technology training programs (in development).
Creator-owned intellectual property (IP)
TQT introduces no new IP terms or restrictions. IP generated through TQT follows the University of Waterloo’s “creator-owned” IP policy. This grants ownership to the inventor, who exercises full right of ownership to the IP created.
