About
Transformative Quantum Technologies (TQT) is a collaborative research initiative led by the University of Waterloo, and the technology development vector of the Institute for Quantum Computing. It aims to accelerate the development and deployment of impactful quantum devices.
We pursue global research excellence centered on three grand challenges that span up to seven years. Our teams and research connect with early adopters, industry, and other stakeholders to develop quantum technology towards applications that deliver societal and economic benefits.
TQT invests in shared research infrastructure and a seed grant program. We support the recruitment and retention of “the best and the brightest” talent. We coordinate with Quantum Valley ecosystem partners and others to accelerate the commercialization of quantum devices.
Formally we are partnered with the University of Ottawa and collaborate internationally with numerous leading quantum research centers.
TQT is made possible thanks in part to a grant from the Canada First Research Excellence Fund.
