Event held on Tuesday, June 6, 2023
On June 6, TQT launched the Quantum For Environment Design Challenge. Introductory remarks were given David Cory (Canada Excellence Research Chair Laureate, Quantum Information Processing) and Tracey Forrest (Program Director, TQT). After the introductory remarks, Quantum for Health winners were recognized. Environment case studies were also presented by the following individuals:
- Tracey Forrest
- Rebecca Saari
- Andrew Todd
- Aiping Yu
- Vassili Karanassios
- Marie-Chantal Ross
- Noah Peter Rogozynski
The team-building activity generated enthusiasm and an array of ideas from the attendees. The topics were as follows:
- Climate Change
- Earth Imaging/Explorations
- Water
- Oceans
- Human Health Impacted by a Changing Environment
- Energy
- Natural Resources
- Agriculture
- Pollutants
- Data Security
- Finance
Several of the brainstormed ideas offered possible solutions to the case study problems, such as using quantum simulation to model the reduction of greenhouse gases, pollutants, and aerosols from the environment.
Thank you to all our speakers, presenters, and attendees. The ideas presented during the brainstorming session and the presentation from the event are available.
If you’re interested in the Q4Environment Design Challenge, please register as an individual or as a team by July 14, 2023.
